THE MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS HAS MET WITH THE EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT OF THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION
Within the framework of his visit to Strasbourg, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ilia Darchiashvili, held a meeting with the Executive Vice-President of the European Commission, European Commissioner for Trade, Valdis Dombrovskis.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs reviewed the implementation of the European Commission’s recommendations by Georgia and the progress made in this regard.
The sides emphasized the importance of granting Georgia the candidate status which will mark a turning point in terms of Georgia's European future and at the same time, will be an important step towards the enlargement of the European Union and ensuring peace and stability on the continent.
Ilia Darchiashvili introduced to Valdis Dombrovskis the legislative and institutional reforms carried out by Georgia on the path of European integration. The role of the European Union’s relevant institutions in this process was also noted.
The sides agreed to continue cooperation to achieve common goals.
