The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia refers to the so-called ratification of the agreement between Russia and its occupation regime on the transfer of Bitchvinta resort to the Russian Federation. The aforementioned illegal action is a continuation of Russia's policy of occupation of indivisible regions of Georgia which grossly violates the fundamental principles of international law.
The consultations were led by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Aleksandre Khvtisiashvili, from the side of Georgia, and by the Deputy Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Maria Teresa Lazaro, from the Republic of the Philippines.
During the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ilia Darchiashvili to Sofia, the Parliament of Bulgaria adopted a declaration, which is in favour for granting Georgia the EU candidate status
Ilia Darchiashvili also drew attention to the progress achieved in Georgia’s European integration process and the importance of Bulgaria's support on this path.
As the Bulgarian minister noted, discussions also focused on the need to deepen relations between Georgia and Bulgaria, including cooperation in the fields of economy, infrastructure, energy, high technologies, innovation, education and culture.
The meeting focused on issues related to Georgia’s EU integration and fulfillment of the European Commission’s 12 recommendations.
