On 21 September 2023, within the framework of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, the Georgian Foreign Minister, Ilia Darchiashvili delivered a speech at the preparatory ministerial meeting of the Summit of the Future.

In his speech, the Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized the importance of holding the said ministerial in the light of the challenges facing the world.

"Peace and security are prerequisites for the advancement of human rights and the achievement of sustainable development. Against the backdrop of conflicts in the world, we hope that the future summit will contribute to global peace and security," said Ilia Darchiashvili.

The minister drew attention to the need to protect the fundamental values of the United Nations and noted the need to adopt the declaration of the future summit, which will help reach a consensus between the countries and strengthen multilateralism.

Ilia Darchiashvili noted that the declaration of the future summit should condemn serious violations of international law and the UN charter, and emphasize the importance of protecting and strengthening responsibility for these violations.
