ILIA DARCHIASHVILI HAS MET WITH HIS PORTUGUESE COUNTERPART
Within the framework of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, Ilia Darchiashvili held a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal, João Titternigton Cravinho.
At the meeting, the sides talked about the current agenda of the relations between the two countries both in the bilateral format and within the framework of international organizations.
The Ministers noted with satisfaction the high-level ties between Georgia and Portugal and the dynamics of bilateral visits, both at the level of executive and legislative bodies. Special attention was paid to Georgia’s European integration process and the importance of the support of EU member states, including Portugal, for the further progress on this path. The Georgian Foreign Minister informed his Portuguese colleague about the Georgian government’s efforts to fulfil the European Commission’s recommendations and emphasized the importance of granting the candidate status to Georgia.
While discussing bilateral relations, special emphasis was put on the need to intensify sectoral cooperation. The minister invited his Portuguese colleague to Georgia.
